Enjoy the magical fusion of refined Japanese cuisine and other specialties from around the world in a unique setting at Yabani downtown.
The highly anticipated re-opening of this staple Japanese restaurant and its re-location from Ashrafieh to Downtown Beirut in 2014 was somewhat of a phenomenon. Unlike its predecessor, the décor here has a more modern industrial feel to it. The ceiling, covered with glass panels, opens up the space. Marble tiles, wooden panels and concrete floors dominate the interior décor and make for an interesting combination. A gigantic marble kitchen knife on display at the entrance may be hinting at how seriously they take their sushi. There’s no messing with the highly-skilled chefs at Yabani. The food is as sophisticated as the restaurant’s upscale decor and interior. Fish is directly imported from Japan and every item on the menu is carefully selected and hand-made with the freshest and finest ingredients to bring out the delicate flavors of Japanese cuisine. But Yabani is not all about sushi; their non-sushi signature fusion dishes are equally good. The miso-marinated caramelized black cod is an absolute must-try. A fine selection of sake and a refined wine list complement the restaurant’s eclectic menu and sleek ambiance, making Yabani one of Beirut’s top dining destinations. The service is friendly and professional; ordering from the extensive menu can be done with the help of an Ipad, where pictures of each item are on display- very helpful for sushi virgins out there-. Though the price tag can be hefty, the food is worth the splurge for a special occasion; and visiting Yabani is sure to be one. For a more casual dining experience from the same folk, visit Y by Yabani in Beirut Souks, Anterlias or Dbayeh.
