December.. A holy month!
Every December, the historical churches of Beirut become a place to enjoy the concerts of Beirut Chants, the festival of classic, sacred and ethnic music. Beirut Chants acts as a platform for local and international performers and orchestras, and spreads a message of peace, hope and tolerance among people from different backgrounds.
Day 18 program:
Ghada Shbeir: Specialist and professional performer of traditional Middle Eastern folks and Arabo Andalusian songs, Syriac and Ancient Maronite chants, Ghada Shbeir has an exquisite talent and the ability to move easily and with professionalism from traditional folk songs to religious chants. She has earned frequent comparison to some of the best Middle Eastern singers. After earning an advanced degree with high distinction in traditional Arabic music performance, Ghada Shbeir received her Master's degree in Musicology from the same university. Due to her unique style in performing, she became a professor of traditional Arabic singing techniques at the USEK, AlMuwashshah singing techniques at the Lebanese Universityand sacred Syriac chants at the National Conservatory of Lebanon.
