Embracing Art & Nature at MACAM

MACAM – Modern And Contemporary Art Museum is the first contemporary art museum in Lebanon dedicated to preserving, conserving and promoting art in the country.

A large factory compound on a hilltop overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the picturesque Adonis Valley in Alita/Byblos, has been transformed by an independent nonprofit organization into a dynamic museum.

The permanent exhibition, PANORAMA OF SCULPTURE IN LEBANON, displays 450 sculptures by eighty five renowned artists. The exhibition presents a century of sculpting in Lebanon starting from 1920 with Joseph Hoyeik, the Basbous brothers, Hussein Madi till contemporary installation art by Nada Sehnaoui, Mario Saba, Ghassan Ghazal. MACAM is a creative hub, it held in three years five art contests and three superb retrospective exhibitions.

Teaching Museum

Aiming to ignite curiosity for diverse artistic and cultural expressions the museum gives educational tours and creative workshops for children.

Diverse creative workshops for all age levels aim to foster and challenge the children imagination, manual skills and creative thinking.

Creative Workshops:

-          Sculpting with Bric-Brac or Clay

-          Gouache Painting & Water coloring

-          Collage artworks

-          Drawing & recycling workshop

-          Nature inspired printing and drawing workshop

We offer small group & private day tours and nature excursions for groups of 10+ offering lunch and snacks on request.  Call for registration (Monday till Thursday on appointment).

Bus Shuttle
Departure at 9am from Beirut, Martyrs’ Square, in front of Virgin Megastore and return from Alita to Beirut at 6pm.
