Open since June 2013, Cargo is anything but. In fact, it is the place you go to to take a load off. Located behind Mandaloun club at the tail end of Mar Mikhael’s Armenia street, Cargo is a bar for partygoers in-the-know: you may never find it, but if/when you do, you’ll be amply rewarded.

Its hidden location only serves to amplify its cool factor and “secret gem” appeal. Yet, Cargo is the anti-exclusive exclusive bar. Open to a diverse crowd, guests tend to feel more like old friends than paying customers. It’s the friendly neighborhood bar-meets-the glamorous trendy bar bar. Therein lies Cargo’s winning formula. The indoor wood panels and brick walls make for an intriguing tunnel bar area. The outside pseudo-garden garden offers delightful outdoor seating, complete with real trees and fake grass. Expect to always meet interesting individuals at Cargo.

From eccentric hippies to corporate executives, this is the democratic place that brings together people from all walks life, the kind of place our ministers and MPs should probably book a table at every once-in-a-while. What disagreements could possibly stand in the face of good food, good music and a good scotch? As if that weren’t enough, the newly-introduced weekend brunches and the popular happy hour Wednesdays are guaranteed to make a Cargo squatter out of you yet.
